Ann Voskamp writes, “Maybe it is the hurt that drives us on? For all our frienzied running seemingly towards something, could it be that we are in fact fleeing—desperately to escape pain that pursues?”
Well, this struck a nerve for me. I’m usually running from silence and stillness and running towards doing anyhting to keep my hands busy. I don’t think that is necessarily a good thing.
So, as Voskamp says, “I don’t want more time; I just want enough time to do my one life well.” (One Thousand Gifts Devotional. Zondervan.)
So let’s all slow down and keep track of the gifts and moments that matter.
My gifts this past week:
31. reading in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep
32. a full night’s sleep
33. effective cough medicine
34. clingy dogs with unfailing loyalty
35. the satisfaction of a finished project
I’d love to hear from you and how your week has been. What gifts have you seen?
