As horse owners (especially with that learning experience called a “first horse”) we encounter everything under the sun. Just when you think things will go back to normal, horses manage to do something you never expect. I love this story by Christina Suzann Nelson, a fellow writer and horse-owner. Read on to hear about her daughter’s horse and an encounter with a bit too much sweets. -N My oldest daughter, Aleasha, started her pleading for a horse about the time she learned to walk. No farm toy or stuffed animal would sway her from that quest to own her own, real-life horse. She took lessons and then one day a...
“Obvious to you. Amazing to others.”
This video really resonated with me. It fits rather well with the theme and goal of this month, National Novel Writing Month. For those churning out novels, you might get sidetracked by doubts and comparison. Don’t let that beat you. I originally found it through Jon Acuff’s blog (a must read). This will be perhaps the best and most encouraging 1 minute and 38 seconds you spend today. So check it out. (And check out the author, Derek Sivers) What is it that you struggle with most? Another venture into NaNoWriMo land
Here we go – another year of National Novel Writing Month! The goal is simple (and perhaps a bit lofty) – 50,000 words in 30 days (usually 29 days if you take Turkey day off…) Anyway. You get my point. Write, write, write. Put words to paper. Unleash the creativity. Rein in all the discipline and dedication you can muster. For me, I’ve really enjoyed the past two years of NaNo-ing and each year has resulted in a better and better novel. This year I’m retackling an old idea with a new twist and I’m looking forward to it! To other writers participating, best of luck! Let me know how...
RE-Affirmation
Sometimes it is a moving blog post. Sometimes it is a conversation with a friend. Sometimes it is a song. Sometimes it is a newspaper article. Sometimes is is a Tweet. A Facebook post. Sometimes it is a moment of peace. Sometimes it is a few tears that needed to be shed. Sometimes it is a moving sermon. Sometimes it is a clear, sunny day where everything aligns. Sometimes it is a moment when nothing seems to be working for you. Sometimes it is a good piece of chocolate. Sometimes it is a family emergency. Sometimes it is a beautiful photo. Sometimes it is an ugly moment. Sometimes it is...
An Interview with Myself Part 4
Here is the final part of my in-depth interview with myself. I tried to dig deep and all of my answers are the bare truth. Feel free to share something about yourself in the comments! Also check out Part 1, Part 2, Part 3… 31. What do you dislike most in others? Saying one thing and doing another. And making selfish, stupid decisions with no regard for how you might affect another’s life (silly things like speeding through parking lots, tailgating, etc.) 32. Do you talk about religion or politics? I have strong opinions on each, but I believe in finding middle grounds and being the peacemaker. I find extremes...
