Merry Christmas!

A shot of our Christmas tree with one of our first ornaments on it. One of my dogs, opening presents at last year’s Christmas. (Can you tell we don’t have children yet? The dogs get more presents than we do.) Merry Christmas!

My thoughts on the Narnia movies

Doesn’t the image just send chills down your spine? Okay, maybe that’s just me. I’m a huge fan of CS Lewis and a bigger fan of the Chronicles of Narnia series. I’ve read them in recent memory at least half a dozen times and as a child…more than that. So with the release of Disney’s “The Chronicles of Narnia” several years ago, I was first in line the day it hit theaters. David vows to protect Alethea from his master, the murderous patriarch, and contrives a daring plan—sacrifice his own life to save hers. My Review: I’m a fan of this time period—the...

Finishing a rough draft on an 80,000-word or 90,000-word manuscript is a thrilling moment. Despite my misleading title of this blog post, I don’t type “the end” right away. Because finishing the rough draft is only the beginning! Yesterday I finished my rough draft to the novel I began on November 1st. I finished with under 79,000 words in 44 days. This sort of sprint works well for me personally, though I know it wouldn’t for many other writers. Now, I’m in for the marathon of revising, editing and rewriting. This was a fascinating story in how it transformed from one thing to another. My character truly took on a...
