thankful thursdays: week one

In Ann Voskamp‘s book, One Thousand Gifts, she chronicles how a friend challenged her to write down one thousand “gifts” she saw in her everyday life. This transformed into a blog with thousands of followings and a whole host of people who do “thankful Thursdays.” As I look at 2012 and forward into 2013, one of the things that resonates with me most is the need to be thankful for every gift in your life—whether that gift is an empty gas tank or a sunny day in January (seriously, we’ve had like four sunny days in a row—I’m amazed.) I’ve been tracking my gifts off and on for the...

confessions: 2013 isn’t what I expected (so far)

January 1st began full of promise and hope—it was a beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest. Sunshine anytime between October and April is considered a small miracle. I’d mapped out my goals for the year, re-launched this blog and even managed to tidy up the house. But as life tends to do, everything got tipped. Our main (and most reliable) truck broke down. This blog is me, unscripted and unfiltered. (Just kidding, there will be filters, I promise.) But let’s all confess: we’re never what we say we are. We’re never really what we portray online. We’re never what we really...

a time of transition, change and growth

Dearest blog readers, Back in October, I confessed I needed a break from blogging and time to refocus on what I needed to do with this website and my writing career. Since then, I participated in NaNoWriMo (writing 50,000 words in 30 days) and completed that monstrous task. I’ve also refocused and redesigned nicolemillerbooks.com. There is still much work to be done. I’m switching over my email subscriber system, and pre-apologize for any technical glitches. That just comes with the territory. There will be new pages, new reference links and a whole new focus on the power of horses on humans. Beginning in January, I’ll begin blogging daily about my “confessions” —...
