Here we go – another year of National Novel Writing Month! The goal is simple (and perhaps a bit lofty) – 50,000 words in 30 days (usually 29 days if you take Turkey day off…) Anyway. You get my point. Write, write, write. Put words to paper. Unleash the creativity. Rein in all the discipline and dedication you can muster. For me, I’ve really enjoyed the past two years of NaNo-ing and each year has resulted in a better and better novel. This year I’m retackling an old idea with a new twist and I’m looking forward to it! To other writers participating, best of luck! Let me know how...
RE-Affirmation
Sometimes it is a moving blog post. Sometimes it is a conversation with a friend. Sometimes it is a song. Sometimes it is a newspaper article. Sometimes is is a Tweet. A Facebook post. Sometimes it is a moment of peace. Sometimes it is a few tears that needed to be shed. Sometimes it is a moving sermon. Sometimes it is a clear, sunny day where everything aligns. Sometimes it is a moment when nothing seems to be working for you. Sometimes it is a good piece of chocolate. Sometimes it is a family emergency. Sometimes it is a beautiful photo. Sometimes it is an ugly moment. Sometimes it is...
An Interview with Myself Part 4
Here is the final part of my in-depth interview with myself. I tried to dig deep and all of my answers are the bare truth. Feel free to share something about yourself in the comments! Also check out Part 1, Part 2, Part 3… 31. What do you dislike most in others? Saying one thing and doing another. And making selfish, stupid decisions with no regard for how you might affect another’s life (silly things like speeding through parking lots, tailgating, etc.) 32. Do you talk about religion or politics? I have strong opinions on each, but I believe in finding middle grounds and being the peacemaker. I find extremes...
Telling the story of your life…through Social Media
The new Timeline feature and enhanced News Feed have caused a stir in the past months. (Some might say it’s a bit more than a stir…) Change is inevitable. Change is necessary. If Facebook didn’t change and adapt, they’d be left behind. (Even though many users complain at any inconvenience to their user experience.) Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, announced this Timeline would become a virtual scrapbook that would “tell the story of your life.” The Facebook mission has always been to “make the world more open and connected.” With 800 million, the social network is well on it’s way. The idea of sharing the story of your life caught...
An Interview with Myself Part 3
Here we go again! See Part 1 and Part 2 of the interview to learn a bit more about me. 21. If you could be or do anything else – what? I’d write, take photos, blog and connect with people each day. Thankfully, I’m living the dream. 22. If you could live in any other time, when might that be? The 1940s, hands down. There is of course a glamour surrounding the period and the way the country rose to meet the war demand. But I would want to see it, feel it, understand the true struggles and the meaning of sacrifice. What have we had to “ration” or sacrifice...
