Fun Facts (Part 3)

For the final post about me…(not forever, I assure you)…I thought I’d list some of my “favorites.” Let me clarify: I HATE “favorite” questionnaires. I can never think of one ultimate favorite. I’d need at least a top ten to fully answer those sorts of questions… But I’ll try to keep this brief. So here you go: In honor of the blog’s nature, I’ll start with my all-time favorite fiction books: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (whole series – who can really pick?) A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers     Favorite non-fiction books: Hands down, no-need-for-mentioning-a-runner-up favorite: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is simply an incredible tale coupled...

Fun Facts…about me!

In effort to break the routine of book reviews and other senseless ramblings of mine… I decided to “show” you all a bit more about who I am! Leave a comment with a fun fact about yourself! Something people might not expect about you… 🙂 More to come in the future: How did my husband and I meet? Hint: it has something to do with that first picture up there… What is my favorite memory from my rodeo queen years? Hint: think of roses… What about you? What is something I’d be surprised to know about you? (That you care to share online for the world to see…) 🙂

What I found was more than I’d ever imagined. Major General Jack Burton was indeed one of several riders who represented the United States at the first Olympics since Berlin in 1936. He’d served in the Pacific during World War II and trained horses for the army during and after the...

Re-discovering my purpose

There are a lot of things that really rile me—lazy journalism, poor table manners, men who won’t open a door for a lady, people who don’t use turn signals… Okay those are pretty standard. But a true passion of mine ever since I wrote a profile of a horse and rider for my Intro to Journalism class is the healing effect horses have on people. During my college years, I wrote several articles about the work of the Northwest Therapeutic Riding Center. The first article I ever wrote in my life was a feature story on a girl named Katie and the horse she rode at the center, a Norwegian Fjord...
