January 1st began full of promise and hope—it was a beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest. Sunshine anytime between October and April is considered a small miracle. I’d mapped out my goals for the year, re-launched this blog and even managed to tidy up the house. But as life tends to do, everything got tipped. Our main (and most reliable) truck broke down. This post has nothing to do with a flower. But it’s pretty to look at, right? As an aspiring author, I’m a student of marketing, self-promotion, tribe-building and everything in between. Rodeo season never ends

I don’t want it to end—the sights, the smells, the feel of dirt in the air. Luckily, these photographs only serve as inspiration behind each novel idea or character. What comes to mind when you see these two photos? I just love that grey horse—and he could really fly around that arena. I love the pride of the queen’s face as well. She represented her rodeo well. I love this chestnut’s face, with that round nose and docile eyes. He had a look of experience and knowing about him that not all horses inherently possess. Your thoughts?
